DENTAL INSURANCE - INTERNATIONAL PLAN - FAQs

Who is eligible?

Active, full-time Expatriate Federal Employees working a minimum of 30 hours a week are eligible for Wright USA’s CIGNA International Plan.

What is an Expatriate Federal Employee?

An Expatriate Federal Employee is someone temporarily or permanently residing in a country and culture other than that of the person’s upbringing or legal residence (i.e., the United States of America).

When is my policy effective?

If you enroll between the 1st and 15th of the month, your coverage will become effective on the 1st of the next month.  If you enroll after the 15th of the month, your coverage becomes effective the first of the following month.

EXAMPLES:

You enroll on January 8th; your coverage becomes effective February 1st.

You enroll on January 17th; your policy becomes effective March 1st.

Do I have to select a dentist from a network?

No. You may choose your own dentist or access the International Network with over 90,000 providers in 160 countries. If you want to search the International Network for a provider, click here for a detailed Instruction Guide. Once you have reviewed the Instruction Guide, go to CIGNA Envoy to find a Network dentist. If you have questions about finding a dentist using CIGNA Envoy, please call 800-223-2273 Ext. 43222 and select Option 1 from the menu for assistance.

Is there a deductible?

Wright Customers do not pay a deductible for services received overseas. However, for services received in the USA, Wright Customers pay an annual deductible of $100 for individuals/$300 for families.

Are there coverage limits?

Yes. The maximum amount of benefits is $3,000 per Calendar Year per person for International services, $600 for services inside the U.S..

Are there waiting periods?

Wright Customers must be enrolled in the Plan for 12 months before the Plan will pay for services listed in Class III (Major Restorative) on the Coverage Overview. For Class IV (Orthodontia) on the Coverage Overview, the waiting period is 24 months for dependents up to age 19 (for new Plan Customers).
