It's Always Open Season at Wright USA! How neat is that? That's pretty neat.
You might have noticed the little addition to our website’s header. We put it there because we want to make sure people know one terrific little fact about Wright USA:
Our insurance plans are not subject to Open Season. You can enroll anytime, anywhere, 24/7, 365.
In the immortal words of nature enthusiast Lenny Pepperbottom: “How neat is that? That’s pretty neat.”
So with Open Season coming to an end, fret not. Wright USA’s professional liability, disability, life, dental, and umbrella insurance plans are open to federal employees throughout the year. In fact, once you have a policy with Wright USA, you can create a My Wright Account where you can view and manage your account online any time and even print reimbursement receipts. Oh yeah, that’s another terrific little fact about Wright USA:
Federal agencies are required to reimburse qualified employees up to 50% or more of their annual premium for federal employee professional liability coverage purchased from Wright USA.
I would quote Lenny Pepperbottom again, but you get the idea.
So if you didn’t know, now you know.
“It’s Always Open Season at Wright USA!”

Wright USA would like to thank and salute all those who have served or are serving!
America would not be America without you.
Happy Veterans Day!

Veterans Day
Tomorrow, November 11th, 2011, Wright USA and countless individuals across the nation will formally honor those that have sacrificed so much for our freedom and our way of life. Without the veterans throughout history that have dropped everything and answered the call to arms, America would not be the great nation that it is. Freedom isn’t free and our veterans know this better than anyone else. It has been said:
“A veteran is someone who at one point in their life wrote a blank check payable to the United States of America for an amount up to and including their life. Regardless of personal political views, that is an honor and there are too many people in this country who no longer remember that fact.”
So let us not take our veterans or our freedom for granted. We must all recognize and appreciate the sacrifices they have made.
Wright USA Thanks Our Veteran Customers
We know that many of our customers are veterans and many more are currently serving in the armed forces. We could not be more honored to serve those that have served us and our nation so faithfully, often at tremendous cost. It is our veterans that make America not just the land of the free and home of the brave, but the land of the free because of the brave. So thank you, however much of an understatement that may be, thank you.
Thank a Veteran
If you are looking for ways to show your appreciation this Veterans Day, there is a great list over at MilitaryAvenue.com on 101 Ways to Thank a Veteran. Here are just a few of those ideas:
- Say “Thank You” – It’s simple but it can mean a lot. If you pass a veteran on the street or see some in a restaurant, thank them (if you are at a restaurant you could even pay for their meal!). If you know a veteran personally, give them a call and let them know how much their service has meant to you.
- Serve Families with a Deployed Member – If you know a military family with a deployed member, take them a treat on Veterans Day as a thank you and ask what you can do to make things easier.
Fun Fact
This year’s Veterans Day (11/11/11) is especially poignant considering the armistice ending WWI on November 11th, 1918 (and reason we celebrate Veterans Day every November 11th) was signed that day at 11:11am.
Federal Benefits Open Season 2012 (image via OPM)
Federal Benefits Open Season 2012 is just around the corner! That means that federal employees everywhere will soon have the chance to review their benefits and make sure they have the proper insurance coverage for themselves and their families. This year’s Open Season officially runs from November 14th to December 12th (though many agencies hold Open Season events even before that time-frame). So don’t miss out on your chance to update your benefits.
Not only do you get a chance to revise your health, dental, and vision benefits, but you can also participate in a Flexible Spending Account Program through FSAFEDS (learn how to enroll) to save money on expenses such as prescription drugs or even day-care. Of course, you can also learn more about some of the products we offer such as:
So take some time to review each aspect of your benefits and ask yourself, “Am I sufficiently covered, as well as my family?” More changes occur in one year than most people realize and chances are those changes demand updates to your coverage in multiple areas.
Is This Really the Only Chance I Get All Year to Adjust My Benefits?
Yes and No.
While this truly is the only chance many federal employees have to adjust certain aspects of their FEHB, FEDVIP, or FSAFEDS benefits for the next year, it is not the last chance they have to purchase or adjust their coverage from Wright USA.
- Federal employees can sign up for any of Wright USA’s insurance products at any time – NOT just during Open Season
Isn’t that good news?
Visit Us
As usual, Wright USA will be visiting several different agencies and we would love to answer any questions you may have. It’s a great chance to learn about not just your current benefits, but also what else is available as a supplement or even alternative to your current plan(s). Be sure to stop by and visit us, we’d love to chat!
NFL Players Sport Pink In Observance of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (Image via CBS News)
Well, it’s October, which means many of us bear witness to an annual rarity: full-grown 350 lb. linebackers sporting pink like it’s going out of style. No, they are not just wearing pink because their buddy Johnny said it was cool. They are wearing pink in observance of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Every October, countless organizations, associations, and individuals step up their game in promoting awareness and education regarding breast cancer and help raise funds for research.
Chances are we all know someone who has been affected by breast cancer. It is a very scary yet very real aspect of life. However, there are more ways than one to help protect oneself.
- Awareness and Education – One of the first steps is always awareness. Those who take the time to educate themselves about breast cancer stand a much better chance from the get-go. Know the signs of breast cancer because you can’t catch it early if you don’t know what you are looking for.
- Regular Check-Ups – Of course, even if you know what to look for, you won’t catch it early if you aren’t looking. So women should perform self-checks regularly. Additionally, according to the National Cancer Institute, women in their 40s and older should have mammograms every 1 to 2 years.
Help Out
If you would like to contribute to the cause, there are many ways to do so. A great place to start is at the National Breast Cancer Foundation website, where you can find information on donating, fundraising, and even volunteering. Thanks to all of you out there doing your part!

Yup, that’s right, we’ve got ourselves a blog! This is something we’ve been looking forward to for quite some time now and we are pretty excited about it. There are several reason’s we decided to start the Wright USA Blog and a number of topics we hope to cover. But before we get into that, let us briefly introduce ourselves for any readers not familiar with Wright USA.
About US
Nearly half a century ago, former FBI Agent Frank Wright saw a need amongst Federal Employees. Having experienced firsthand many of the unique liability risks that federal employees face, Frank recognized that the level of liability protection available to Federal Employees was lacking. In response, Frank founded Wright USA (formerly known as Wright & Co.) and invented Federal Employee Professional Liability Insurance (FEPLI) along with several other insurance programs specifically designed for Federal Government Employees.
Fast forward roughly 50 years and here you have Wright USA, setting the standard for insurance programs for Federal Government Employees and still going strong as the largest Third Party Administrator (TPA) serving its market. It’s been a great ride as we continue our mission to provide comprehensive benefits at low, affordable group rates to Federal Government Employees and their families and we expect the next 50 years to be even better.
Why We Are Blogging
Now you might be wondering why an insurance company serving Federal Government Employees would blog. The answer is simple, we blog because we want to serve Federal Employees, whether customers or not, and this blog is just one more way in which we can do that. We want this blog to be a place where Federal Government Employees can learn more about their unique insurance needs, find general tips for smart, safe, and healthy living, and read about what is going on in the Federal Government and the world of Federal Government employment.
What We Will Blog About
Insurance can seem complex at times and many Federal Government Employees might not have the time or energy to sort it all out. So we intend to provide helpful, simple, plain-English insights and information regarding various insurance products, needs, and intricacies. We also hope to keep our finger on the pulse of the Federal Government and Federal Government Employees so that we can address any news or current events coming out of those circles. Additionally, we plan to share helpful tips pertaining to Federal Employees for living, working, and planning well in life. Finally, we want to have fun. So don’t be surprised if we share something completely unrelated yet entertaining (like a video of a baby monkey riding backwards on a pig).
Join Us!
In the end, the real beauty of this blog is that we want you to join us. This blog exists for the benefit of Federal Employees and will be of minimal value without your participation. Help make this blog a more lively, helpful, fun and casual place for Federal Employees to come learn and share. So please feel free to join in on the conversation by using the comments section below each post to share your thoughts. Enjoy!
